I have five poems in this anthology, "Silence is Consent." The editor, Christopher Bogart, called for poets who oppose what's happening in the current administration to submit material. It is imperative to speak out while we still can. Bogart has made it clear that all profits from this publication will go to the ACLU so they can continue the important work they are doing!
On the back cover there is a quote from Elie Wiesel: "We must always take sides. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."
The dedication in the beginning of the book reads:
This book is
dedicated
to the people of the
United States of America,
and to their
ancestors
who arrived at Ellis
Island as well as Plymouth Rock,
who crossed the
Atlantic as well as the Pacific,
and the Rio Grande
in search of a better
life –
in a land dedicated
to
Democracy.
